Ensure success of pulse polio drive in district: DC

Mandya: Deputy commissioner Kumara on Tuesday directed authorities to ensure success of the pulse polio drive, which will be held across the district on March 3. Chairing a meeting on the preparations for the drive, he said that on Saturday an awareness drive be carried out in all schools to motivate students. One student per school should be appointed as the ambassador, and lead the drive, he said.He also directed school heads to keep school open at 8am itself and provide all basic amenities to the people who arrive to administer polio drops to their children. Other decisions taken in the meeting include a taluk level committee under the chairmanship of the taluk panchayat executive officer, making arrangements to bring kids in the age group of 0-5 years to pulse polio centres, administering pulse polio drops to those kids who delivered at home, involving the women self-help groups in the pulse polio drive ensuring total coverage among unorganised sector labour families and nomadic communities.Medical and para medical institutes were directed to join the drive and open pulse polio booths in their institutes.
