Tribals in Dubare Elephant Camp seek basic amenities

Madikeri: The elephant mahouts, kavadis, and the tribal community residing in Dubare Elephant Camp and surrounding areas asked Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar on Friday to provide them with clean drinking water for their tribal hamlets.
They also requested housing, electricity, and roads, complained that they were denied these basic facilities even after decades of independence. They stated that the children do not receive education due to the lack of nearby schools.
No govt has done anything for us, though we have lived here for centuries, they stated.
Tribal leader RK Chandru submitted the memorandum on behalf of the tribal community to the MP. Yaduveer said that the people survived because of the green forest preserved by the tribal communities. "I will make sincere efforts to build roads, houses, and provide electricity in the tribal camps," he stated.
District BJP president Napanda Kalappa was present.
