Do not politicise fuel hike: Eshwarappa

Shivamogga: Former DCM KS Eshwarappa on Monday said that the price rise impacts everyone equally, and he does not want to bring politics into the rise in fuel prices.

Eshwarappa said there is an international crisis, and citizens are supporting the measures taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He urged that no one should politicise the issue and everyone should stand united to find a solution.



Meanwhile, fuel prices in Shivamogga have seen a sharp increase, with petrol jumping from Rs 108.99 to Rs 111.83 per litre and diesel rising from Rs 97.07 to Rs 99.88 per litre.

Shivamogga Govardhana Trust, led by KS Eshwarappa, submitted a memorandum to the Shivamogga deputy commissioner demanding a strict ban on cattle slaughter. Anticipating illegal cattle transportation and large-scale slaughter during the upcoming Bakrid festival, the trust urged the DC to ensure the effective implementation of the anti-cattle slaughter law.

Demand for HC bench

Eshwarappa also announced that various organisations will jointly submit a memorandum on Tuesday demanding a high court bench for Shivamogga. He said that according to Jaswant Singh Commission report, Shivamogga perfectly qualifies for a permanent bench, which would greatly benefit the people of Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Chitradurga. He criticised the decision to set up a bench in Mangaluru despite it having fewer pending cases, pointing out that Mangaluru is far away while Shivamogga has a higher volume of cases. Considering both the geographic distance and the heavy case load, he urged the authorities to establish the high court bench in Shivamogga.
