CFTRI launches new products

Mysuru: The Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) on Tuesday launched three new products. The day also witnessed a gathering of women self-help groups and farmer entrepreneurs.One of the products released was a gluten-free cake mix plant which can be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 7,52,370. The equipment required to start this unit includes a hammer mill, planetary mixer, electronic balance and sealing machine. This gluten-free cake mix is a ready to use product, and this cake mix can be used to produce muffins, cup cakes or pastries. It has high protein, fibre and mineral contents as compared to many of the gluten-free products in the market. It will serve the growing consumer demand for healthy and convenient foods, said CFTRI officials.CFTRI also launched the fibre enriched rusk product on Tuesday. A unit of this product can be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 9.4 lakh. Fibre-enriched rusk is made from whole grains and natural ingredients based on yeast leavening action. The ingredients are mixed, processed, baked in a rotary or deck oven. After cooling, they are sliced and rebaked till the moisture is around 2 to 4%.The third product, spice bread, is a ready formulation. Total project cost to launch this product unit is Rs 9.4 lakh.
