B Team: Will teach CM a lesson, says Deve Gowda
MYSURU: Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda took a dig at Congress leaders for calling the JD(S) the B team of the BJP.
At a booth-level meeting of Chamaraja constituency here on Thursday, he alleged that national parties are trying to destroy regional leaders like former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy by these tactics. “I swear that I’ll teach CM Siddaramaiah a lesson for such arrogance,” he said.
Gowda used the best part of his 30-minute speech to criticize Siddaramaiah. “Today, I inaugurated a Garadi Mane (gymnasiums) here. I’m 85 years old and he’s younger than me. I can't challenge him. But I have people to fight him. I’m ready for a political bout. Let it start from the home district of the chief minister," he said, adding, “He has forgotten all those who helped him become the CM.”
He said that Siddaramaiah is yet to mature in politics. “I don't have a personal grudge against him. Let him introspect. He makes fun of me that I’m trying to make my son CM again. He has forgotten the past. Let him ask the people of Mysuru who shaped his political career,” he said.
He openly mocks BJP national president Amit Shah by pretending he has forgotten his name. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said this is a 10% commission government. I have a lot of things to share, wait for next two months,” he said.
‘I can't seek votes for JD(S)’
Under fire from JD(S) leaders for targeting them, CM Siddaramaiah asserted that he has the right to ask people to defeat JD(S) candidates. “Can I ask people to vote for the JD(S)? I’m a Congress CM and have the right to ask voters to defeat members of the Deve Gowda family,” he said. Asked about the telephonic conversation with Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association president B P Manje Gowda, Siddaramaiah said, “Yes, that is me (in the recorded conservation). Can I ask for votes for Gowda’s sons? What’s the issue? I’m not afraid of the recorded conservation going viral.”
No secret deals: Revanna
Hitting out at Congress leaders for calling the JD(S) the ‘B Team’ of BJP, he told reporters, “Rahul Gandhi must ask his mother and enlighten all of us on who had a secret understanding with the BJP when the UPA was in the power at the Centre.
Deve Gowda is known for his fights and protests, which is his nature. Secret understandings are not his nature."
