Mysuru: Vice-president and head at Infosys, Mysuru Vinayak P Hegde, on Saturday, said what truly matters is one's ability to learn, collaborate, and continuously improve."Your starting salary does not define your future," he said, while addressing students at the national-level project competition ‘VRIDDHEEE 2026.' The event, organised by the department of electrical and electronics engineering of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, saw students from electrical, mechanical, electronics, and computer science branches across the country present an impressive range of innovative projects.Recalling his own journey spanning over three decades, Hegde encouraged lifelong learning and emphasised the importance of handling failure positively. "Failure is not the end. It is an opportunity to learn and become stronger," he said. Hegde urged students to focus on core engineering skills while adapting to emerging technologies such as AI.Sundar KS, associate vice-president at Infosys, Mysuru, highlighted that rapid technological changes and AI will shape the professional world of tomorrow. He stressed the importance of dual capabilities—technical knowledge and domain expertise combined with social skills and strong fundamentals. "While AI tools can solve existing problems, innovation relies on human creativity. Students must observe, learn, and innovate, contributing to both new and existing solutions," he said. Sundar emphasised that curiosity, continuous learning, and a proactive approach are essential for success in an evolving and dynamic world.The competition saw participation from 53 teams across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Telangana, showcasing projects across diverse engineering and technology domains.
