$39,000 raised for family of Mysuru boy killed in US

MYSURU: An online campaign launched to meet the travel expenses of the family of Abhishek Sudhesh Bhat, a Mysurean shot dead in California on Thursday, crossed $39,000 in 23 hours. started the initiative. A part of the money will be used to clear Abhishek’s financial commitments that need to be addressed in USA, including his education loan.


Los Angeles-based media firm KTLA said in their website that the man who shot Abhishek surrendered before San Bernardino police on Saturday. Eric Devon Turner, 42, had run away after opening fire at Abhishek, according to the website. Abhishek was the son of Sudhesh Chand and Nandini Sudhesh, residents of Kuvempu Nagar in Mysuru.

Srivatsa said officials of the Indian consulate in the US contacted them on Sunday and promised all help. “The San Bernardino police too contacted us. We will speak to the forensic department authorities on Monday to know the date of forensic analysis,” he said. Abhishek’s parents and brother are likely to travel to the US to perform the funeral there. Abhishek’s younger brother Abhishresht is expecting to get his passport by Monday. Both the parents have US visa.
