State cabinet approves corporations for Brahmin, Rajput communities

Mumbai: Caught in the cross-fire between the Maratha and OBC communities, the conflict between Dhangars (shepherds) and Scheduled Tribes, and the concerns of the Scheduled Castes about the dilution of their quota, the state cabinet on Monday tried to placate the upper castes as well. It approved the establishment of two corporations for Rajputs and Brahmins, which will help the economically weaker sections of these communities in education and business.The cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief minister Eknath Shinde, approved the establishment of Parashuram Economic Development Corporation for the Brahmin community. This corporation will be given a share capital of Rs 50 crore and will be headquartered in Pune.It also agreed to the formation of the Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap Economic Development Corporation for the Rajput community. This corporation will be given a share capital of Rs 50 crore and will be headquartered at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.Meanwhile, the cabinet also approved inclusion of three sub-castes of the Kunbi community in the Other Backward Classes (OBC) list. As per the recommendation made by the State Backward Classes Commission, the cabinet has approved the inclusion of "Tilori Kunbi", "Tillori Kunbi", and "T. Kunbi" in No. 83 of the OBC list.
