MUMBAI: The state government will soon set up a facilitation centre as a single-window clearance for new industries, said deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The facilitation centre will grant all permissions required to set up industry in the state within a specified time period, he said while addressing a gathering at the state industry awards ceremony held in the city on Sunday.
The government has decided to institute the Udyog Ratna award on the lines of the Maharashtra Bhushan award for industrialists in the state. While chief minister Eknath Shinde and his deputies Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar honoured industrialist Ratan Tata on Saturday, the award was received by Tata group president Chandrasekharan on Sunday on behalf of Tata.
The government awarded Adar Poonawala with the Udyog Mitra and Gauri Kirloskar with the Udyogini awards. Vilas Shinde received the Utkrusht Marathi Udyojak award. Each of the awards carried a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh, Rs 15 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, respectively.
Fadnavis said the government will move ahead with the development of Vadhavan port which has obtained clearance from the Supreme Court- appointed environment committee. The port, he said, will handle three times the cargo volume handled by Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority port. Vadhavan, Fadnavis said, will be the largest port in India, while Gadchiroli will be developed as a steel city.
Shinde said the government had begun implementation of the recommendations of the state economic advisory council to make Maharashtra a trillion dollar economy by 2028. tnn
