Senior citizens arrested in Mumbai for using fake yellow fever certificates

Mumbai: Two senior citizens were arrested by Sahar police on September 4 for allegedly using fake Yellow Fever certificates to enter India from South African nations. Among those detained were 62-year-old Monal Shah from Cumbala Hill, South Mumbai, and 63-year-old Khapee Zubedaben Mohammed, a resident of Gujarat, who purportedly travelled from Kenya and Congo respectively.The arrests occurred when immigration officials stopped the duo upon their arrival at Mumbai International Airport. "The two were made to undergo check at the Airport Health Organisation. They are in custody for cheating and forgery after the International Certificate of Vaccination showed fake," a police officer from Sahar police station stated.Mohammed was the first to be intercepted after arriving from Congo, followed by Shah, who arrived from Kenya. In the complaint, immigration official Rahul Das stated: "The duo's certificate was not shown in the record book. This cleared that it was fake. Further, the certificates was verified and found multiple missing points in it."The certificate presented by Mohammed contained four discrepancies. "The certificate showed was issued on May 6 which is Tuesday. It clearly showed that the department issues the certificate only on Monday and Wednesday. Second, the certificate showed a tenure of 10 years which is also wrong. Because the certificate for life time. Also, there is no signature and stamp of the issuing authority in Mumbai. Similar is the case with Shah," the police added.
