Navi Mumbai: The roads in the rapidly developing Ulwe node, which is administered by Cidco, have been in A deplorable condition and the authorities are least bothered, alleged local residents. They have demanded immediate repair of the pothole-riddled roads as the continue to endure back-breaking rides. The campaign is spearheaded by Mahendra Gharat, a prominent labour leader from Uran, who recently conducted a thorough inspection of the roads in Ulwe node alongside Cidco officials. With the Ganapati festival underway, devotees have expressed grave concerns about the current state of the roads, emphasising that citizens are forced to risk their lives while commuting due to the poor road conditions. During the inspection, Gharat strongly urged Cidco officials and the superintendent engineer to take immediate action and repair the dilapidated roads in the node which has accommodated over 2 lakh population and the growth is seen after the operation of suburban trains between Nerul and Uran.Gharat stressed the urgency of the situation, given the ongoing festival and the potential dangers posed to the public by the current road conditions. Cidco officials said that the roads will soon be taken up for pothole filling as a corrective measure to mitigate the suffering faced by locals. Dr Bhushan Patil, a local resident, said, "We are at the mercy of the authorities who have turned a blind eye to the persistent problems related to lack of basic civic amenities. We have committed a mistake by moving here as Cidco lured homebuyers promising so much as the ground reality turned out to be different."According to Gharat, "Cidco has acknowledged the severity of the issue and committed to addressing the problem at the earliest. The officials assured that they would initiate the process of filling the potholes on a war footing, ensuring that the necessary repairs are carried out swiftly to ensure the safety and convenience of the citizens during the festive season. We will soon mobilise a protest if the problem is not resolved soon."
