Remove encroachments from land meant for Children’s Aid Society, says Mumbai suburban guardian minister
Mumbai: Mumbai suburban guardian minister Ashish Shelar directed all agencies concerned to take coordinated and immediate action to remove encroachments from lands owned by the state govt’s public works department and Tata Power in Mankhurd, and make the land available for the original purpose of the Children’s Aid Society. A review meeting regarding the encroached land at Mankhurd was held on Wednesday.
Former MP Kirit Somaiya, along with officials from the BMC, PWD, police, women and child development department and Tata Power attended the meeting.
Shelar directed officials to take immediate action against newly constructed illegal warehouses along the highway in the Mankhurd area, unauthorised constructions under high-voltage power transmission lines, and various other forms of encroachments. He also instructed authorities to initiate appropriate action against unauthorised activities taking place within the safety zones of gas pipelines and high-tension power lines in this area.
Shelar told the City Survey Department to urgently complete a survey for demarcating the boundaries of lands belonging to the Children’s Aid Society, Tata Power, PWD, and other govt agencies, and to provide officially authenticated maps duly signed by all departments concerned.
Shelar also instructed the BMC, in its capacity as the planning authority, to expedite legal action under the provisions of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act. Shelar also emphasized that instead of undertaking isolated actions, all departments should coordinate their efforts by issuing notices jointly and carrying out a unified encroachment removal drive.
