MUMBAI: Police on Saturday arrested a
ragpicker
for molesting a 24-year-old post-graduate student near
Saraswat Society
in
Santacruz
(West) on Saturday. The incident occurred at around 2.30pm when the victim stopped an auto rickshaw on to go to college. The accused identified as
Mohammed Ahmed is in judicial custody.
The victim was on
Juhu Tara Road
when the 30-year-old accused touched her inappropriately. In the complaint, the victim said, "I was talking with the auto driver when the unknown man touched me from behind. The accused started running when I screamed." The accused was caught few metres away when a police beat marshalls patrolling in the locality noticed the victim screaming. "The alert beat marshalls caught the accused from the spot. He has been booked under the Indian Penal Code section for outraging modesty of a woman," said Santacruz police senior inspector Shantanu Pawar.
