MUMBAI: A day after a 15-year-old boy from Chembur was electrocuted the Nehru Nagar police have registered an offence of 304-A of causing death due to negligence against the unknown officials of MMRDA responsible for it.
The deceased Prajval was 8th standard student of VD Shukla high school in Chembur and at the time of incident he had gone to play with his friend when he accidentally touched the iron baricade erected by the MMDRA officials carrying the metro work at the Eastarn Express highway at Chembur. Prajval’s father’s Ajay too had died in an accident in 2011. After his father’s death, his mother remarried and since then he was staying with his granny Vandana Nakathe at Siddhart Nagar in Chembur. Vandana told police that on Tuesday Prajval’s friend came home running and informed her that Prajval had fallen down near the BEST bus stop at Eastern express highway. Vandana rushed to the spot to see Prajval lying near the barricade and the member of public didnot allow her to touch him saying that the boy was entangled with a live wire. "She along with member of public then pulled Prajval with the help of a peice of cloth and rushed him to the Sion hospital but he was declared dead before admission," aaid a police officer.
During the preliminary inquiries it transpired that the MMDRA had left an electric wire loose which accidentally fell on the barricade of which Prajval came in contact and got electrocuted. Police said that they have started questioning the site supervisor and contractor.
