Mumbai reports 1,034 cases

Mumbai reported over 1000 cases for the third consecutive day on Friday as 1,034 persons tested positive for coronavirus. Three persons died taking the death toll to 11,461. Threat letter in car outside Antilia

The Mumbai Police has launched a massive manhunt after a car containing gelatin and a threat letter was found outside billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence Antilia on Thursday. However, prior to the car's arrival, no threat call or letter had been received by anyone with any connection to the Ambani family. According to cops, the car was stolen from Vikhroli area a few days ago and its chassis number was damaged. The real owner of the vehicle has been identified. Token protest by truck owners

Several trucks, tempos and trailers in Maharashtra went off roads on Friday for a day in a ‘token protest’ against rising diesel prices in the country, which could affect supply of essential and non-essential goods to the city. Gas supply suspended in Thane East

Mahanagar gas supply to hundreds of customers in Thane East has been suspended after an arterial pipeline suffered damage during an ongoing civic work near Vinayak society, Kopri on Friday evening. MGL staff along with RDMC, fire brigade are present on site and no casualty or injuries have been reported, informed the RDMC. Women RPF personnel onboard

Starting Friday, a team of 50 women personnel with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) will start escorting local trains in Mumbai as well as long-distance trains on the Central line.

Train travellers, beware

Crime rate has started picking up ever since more categories of travellers were permitted to commute by local trains in Mumbai. The RPF women personnel will be carrying carbines as well as pistols for security.

Transgender murder case solved

Four persons, including a minor, have been arrested for the brutal daylight murder of a transgender person at Goregaon West two days ago. The person was stabbed to death with a sharp-edged weapon.

Oval Maidan closed
