Happy at 100!

On her 100th birthday, an elderly lady Mrs Prabhvati Khedkar took her vaccination jab at the BKC Centre today. Khedkar is a resident of Andheri. Khedkar decided to celebrate her birthday at the vaccination centre. Dr Rajesh Dere, Dean of COVID-19 Centre at BKC, said that the elderly lady is not suffering from any co-morbid condition. However, the doctors checked her before administering the vaccine. The Dean also said as they came to know that it was Khedkar’s birthday, they decided to get a cake and celebrate her birthday in their facility.

Mansukh Hiren found dead in Thane

Mansukh Hiren, whose explosives-laden vehicle was found parked near the residence of Mukesh Ambani, was found dead in Thane today. According to police, Hiren died by suicide after jumping into Kalwa creek. The police have so far registered an Accidental Death Report(ADR) and the body has been sent for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death. Andheri hotel sealed

Ten staff members of Andheri 's Radhakrishnan restaurant on SV road were found positive for Covid 19. The restaurant has been sealed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for two days after 10 out of 35 staff members of the hotel tested positive for coronavirus. According to a BMC official, the restaurant will be allowed to operate after sanitisation and new staff deployment. The staff, who tested positive for coronavirus, have been shifted to Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) Jumbo Covid Centre.

Guv takes the jab

Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari was administered the first shot of Covaxin at the State-run JJ Hospital in Mumbai on Friday. Director of Medical Education and Research Dr TP Lahane, Dean of Sir JJ Group of Hospitals Dr Ranjit Mankeshwar, Medical Superintendent Dr Vijay Surase were also present.

Tanker overturns in Thane

On Friday, an edible oil tanker overturned at Gaimukh (closed octroi naka) on Ghodbunder Road. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. Auto drivers queue up for meter calibration

Auto-rickshaw drivers queued up from the highway to LBS Road in Ghatkopar for meter calibration by RTO. The drivers have been waiting since 5 am on Friday. The minimum fare for auto-rickshaws in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai has increased from Rs 18 to Rs 21. Tariff cards for autos will be valid only from March 1 to May 31, as the drivers and owners will have to recalibrate the electronic meters compulsorily within this period.
