Cultural Integration of Structures

The cable-stayed Shunya Bridge located over Vakola Nullah integrates Aryabhata's concept of the number zero with construction, celebrating the fusion of culture and modern infrastructure through visuals representing the two on the Shunya Bridge. Shunya Bridge will be a prominent feature on the new Metro Line 2B project that connects DN Nagar to Mandale.

2/7

Elevated Design Benefits

Because the Shunya Bridge is elevated, the metropolitan metro train can safely cross over Mumbai's Vakola Nullah without causing an obstruction to the area's surface waterways or traffic. In addition, the elevated design of the bridge adds to its flood resistance and makes the bridge a long-term durable feature of the metro corridor.

3/7

Eastern and Western Connectivity

Shunya Bridge represents an essential connection between Eastern and Western Mumbai suburbs for commuters traveling along the elevated Metro Line 2B corridor, traversing through highly populated areas, reducing the time taken for commuting and minimizing traffic congestion on the lower levels of the roadways.

4/7

Construction Progres

Construction teams are working on pylons, deck segments, and cable anchoring with precision. Safety protocols, quality checks, and specialized equipment are deployed to ensure timely completion while maintaining structural integrity.

5/7

Cable Stayed Design

Due to the engineering advantages of the cable-stayed design as well as its ability to offer a visually appealing landmark, the engineers chose to design the Shunya Bridge using the cable-stayed method. The combination of the suspension cables and pylons provides structural strength while creating a visually attractive structure that will be significantly visible from points adjacent to the bridge.

6/7

Environmental Considerations

During construction, measures are being taken to minimize impact on the nullah and surrounding environment. The design ensures proper water flow beneath the bridge and adherence to urban ecological guidelines.

7/7

Integration into Metro Line 2B

Shunya Bridge forms an integral part of the Metro Line 2B service between DN Nagar and Mandale. The bridge spans across the Vakola Nullah providing an uninterrupted route for metro train operations, contributing to the expansion of the existing Mumbai metro rail system.

have some shame and give credit to contractor who is designing and building this structure. MMRDA officials are merely disbursing funds after taking their share of cut by way of bribes. Zero contribution to any work. they only occupy chairs and the incompetent municipal commissioner with blessings of deherpotya fadanvis abuses officials . it is really shameful that TOI does not have the courage to give due credit to the GC and Contractor who toil day and night despite the abuses hurled at them by incompetent MMRDA officials and corrupt politicians
