Metro line 13 project

The proposed Metro Line 13 corridor between Bhayander and Virar has moved a step forward after the revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) was submitted to the Maharashtra government for approval.

2/7

Underground section added

The updated plan includes a 3.25-km underground stretch between Vasai and Nalasopara, aimed at reducing displacement and rehabilitation issues in densely populated residential pockets along the route.

3/7

Sharp rise in cost

The estimated cost of the project has increased significantly to Rs 17,724 crore, compared to the earlier estimate of around Rs 6,900 crore, mainly due to revisions in alignment and underground construction work.

4/7

Route and structure

The Metro corridor will span 24.9 km in total, with 21.65 km planned as an elevated section and the remaining 3.25 km underground.

5/7

Stations planned

A total of 17 stations have been proposed on the corridor, including 14 elevated stations and three underground stations at Vivek Fire Brigade, Chole Gaon and Papdi.

6/7

Network integration

Metro Line 13 will connect with Metro Line 9 at Bhayander, enabling smoother access towards Dahisar, Andheri East and Gundavali through the wider Mumbai Metro network.

7/7

Key infrastructure feature

The project includes a proposed double-decker bridge over Vasai creek, with a lower deck for road traffic and an upper deck for metro services. (All Images used for representational purpose only)

If MMRDA has the brains it will connect the virar metro line to the virar bullet train station. And hopefully to the vadhwan port, whenever it's ready. . Urgently needed bhayander-vasai bridge is a massive neccesity to avoid the third-rate western"express"highway.
