elections. While 1.35 lakh VVPAT machines will be provided, the additional ones will be placed in the custody of zonal election officers.

The VVPAT machine will issue a receipt within seven seconds with details of the name of the candidate, party symbol and serial number of the candidate on the ballot paper so a voter can confirm that the vote has gone to the party it was intended for.
