FASTag must from today

Road Transport and Highways Ministry has decided that the FASTag implementation will come into force from Monday night and vehicles without a valid FASTag would be charged double the toll. From February 16, there will be no cash lane at the toll plazas. The Ministry has made FASTag mandatory for M and N categories of motor vehicles. The M category includes vehicles having at least four wheels and used for carrying passengers. The N category includes vehicles with at least four wheels and used for carrying goods or passengers. Booster dose

On Monday, the second dose administration of COVID-19 vaccine, that is the booster dose, started in Mumbai. Dr Gautam Bhansali, a physician from Bombay Hospital, was among the first ones to get the second dose of the vaccine at BKC. Some doctors have got messages while others have got calls from ward offices to take the vaccine. 1,926 health workers who took the vaccine on Day 1 were scheduled to get the second dose today in the city. Meanwhile, Mumbai and Maharashtra are again witnessing a rise in coronavirus cases.

Sewri station office vandalised

A 20-year-old drunk youth entered Sewri station master’s office this morning and damaged the fan, a glass table and other equipment. He also damaged the announcer's computer. The accused also attacked one RPF personnel with the knife, however, he escaped unhurt. The youth has been taken into custody by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and a case has been registered.

Byculla Zoo reopens

The Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan and Zoo, popularly known as Byculla zoo, reopened after nearly 11 months from February 15 amid strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines. The operational timing of the zoo is the same -- between 9.30 am and 6 pm. The bird aviary within the zoo, however, continues to remain shut owing to the outbreak of bird flu. Byculla Zoo opens its doors

On Monday, the Byculla Zoo opened its doors once again after the COVID-19 pandemic inflicted a lockdown in the city of Mumbai. The zoo will remain open from 9:30 am to 6 pm, following COVID-19 safety norms.

Fire in Aarey Colony

A fire broke out in the forest area near Royal Palm at Aarey Colony. The videos and photos of the fire were shared by nearby local residents. So far, no injuries have been reported in the incident and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Truck overturns in Jalgaon

Sixteen people were killed and several others injured after a truck carrying labourers overturned and fell into a roadside pit in Jalgaon district. The accident took place near a temple in Kingaon village when the papaya-laden truck was on its way to Yawal tehsil in Jalgaon from Dhule. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind condoled the loss of lives in the accident.
