Dy CM urges resident docs to end strike

Mumbai: As resident doctors across Maharashtra, excluding the BMC-run colleges, started their indefinite strike on Thursday evening, deputy CM Ajit Pawar said the approval for a stipend hike will be tabled in front of the Cabinet on Sunday.
Pawar urged the doctors to withdraw their agitation saying all their other demands are being seriously looked into, including hostel repairs. Pawar said that the state has already agreed to a hike of Rs 10,000 in stipend but such a decision requires a cabinet approval. The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) said that the state has called them for a meeting on Friday at 3pm. A decision on continuing the strike will be taken post the meeting. tnn
