MUMBAI: Ambassadors and high commissioners representing the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries convened with chief minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday.


Focusing on fortifying the bilateral relations between India and the ASEAN nations, chief minister Shinde emphasized the favorable environment for industrial investments within Maharashtra. The delegation comprised the high commissioners of Brunei and Singapore, as well as Ambassadors from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Shinde highlighted Maharashtra's prominent position as the leading exporting state among Asian countries.

He underscored that Maharashtra plays a pivotal role as the economic powerhouse of India, with Mumbai serving as the nation's financial hub. Shinde also pointed out the state's exceptional infrastructure achievements, including projects like the Mumbai Trans-Harbor Link (MTHL), Coastal Road, and the extensive metro network, all contributing to a conducive environment for industrial expansion.

Moreover, he emphasized Maharashtra's world-class infrastructure and the ongoing development of industrial clusters. The state government has adopted a pro-industrial policy, facilitating the streamlined issuance of permits for industries. The Economic Development Council of the state has set an ambitious target of elevating the state's economy to one trillion dollars by 2028.
