AAP seeks votes of dabbawalas in INDIA’s favour

MUMBAI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has reached out to Mumbai’s famed dabbawalas as part of their voter outreach for the INDIA alliance’s Lok Sabha candidates.

During the interaction on Wednesday, the dabbawalas spoke about their issues and problems to AAP senior activists in the city.

“The dabbawalas are our ‘annadata’. They are brand ambassadors for Mumbai and are a symbol for the city’s efficiency and work ethic. Who better than the dabbawalas will know the extent of strain on the economy due to inflation and its direct impact on household expenditure on food. We appeal to them to vote for the INDIA alliance candidates,” said AAP Mumbai president Preeti Sharma Menon. The dabbawalas complained about their plight and how private offices don’t declare holiday for their staff for general elections. “Due to this, they are unable to cast their vote,” said Ruben Mascarenhas, national joint secretary and Mumbai working president, Aam Aadmi Party.
