MUMBAI: Aaditya Thackeray filed his nomination for the October 21 assembly polls from the

assembly constituency on Thursday. In his poll affidavit, the 29-year -old disclosed total assets of Rs 16.05 crore, which include seven immovable properties worth Rs 4.67 crore—five of them gifted by his father, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, on a single day in 2013, and one gifted by his mother Rashmi just over a month ago.


According to the affidavit, five pieces of agricultural land worth Rs 77.66 lakh, located at Bilawale in Khalapur in

Raigad district

and which, combined, cover an area of more than one acre, were gifted to the Thackeray scion by Uddhav through a gift deed on April 8, 2013. Another property, a shop worth Rs 89.40 lakh admeasuring 1,250 sq ft in Shreeji Arcade building at Thakurli village in Kalyan, was gifted by Aaditya’s mother Rashmi on August 26 this year.



The seventh immovable property mentioned by Aaditya, who describes his occupation as “business” in the affidavit and states he has “no liability,” is a gala (shop) admeasuring 1,960 sq ft that he purchased in Ashar Millenia building on Ghodbunder Road, Thane, at a cost of Rs 3 crore less than a month ago, on September 11.

Apart from immovable properties, Aaditya has declared that he has a vehicle, a BMW car, registered in 2010 and purchased in 2019 at a cost of Rs 6.5 lakh.

Suresh Mane of the Bahujan Republican Socialist Party will be the combined opposition candidate against Thackeray in Worli. NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik said Mane will contest on the NCP’s clock symbol.

Aaditya’s affidavit further states that that he has no court case pending, nor has he been convicted in any case. Aaditya completed his BA in history from St Xavier’s college and his LLB from KC College. An election official said that Aaditya Thackeray was the first candidate to file his nomination from the Worli constituency.

Aaditya is the first from the Thackeray family to fight elections. Neither his grandfather Balasaheb Thackeray, the late founder of the Shiv Sena, nor his father Uddhav, now president of the party, nor Uddhav’s cousin Raj, now the MNS chief, have contested any elections.
