2 Navi Mumbai’s Taloja MIDC companies benefit following PCMC’s 90% tax relief scheme

Navi Mumbai: Amid the long-standing conflict regarding property tax payment by companies in Taloja, Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is offering 90% relief on the tax penalty amount under the amnesty scheme till Sept 15, benefitting both the company and the civic body.Two Taloja MIDC companies will together reap a massive Rs 2.3 crore property tax benefit under the scheme. The private companies - Kool Solutions India and Shell India Markets will get Rs 1.3 crore and Rs 95 lakh reliefs. Panvel civic body tax kitty will be swelled by Rs 3 crore deposited by Kool as per directions of the high court. Civic body chief, Mangesh Chitale has appealed to the property holders including those in the MIDC belt to take the benefit under the amnesty scheme. The deputy municipal commissioner (property tax) Swarup Kharage has asked the MIDC based companies to clear their property tax dues by availing 90% discount on the fine amount. The taxpayers are offered with 2% additional basic tax exemption for paying online and 2% more towards participation in energy conservation, water recharge, waste management and environment friendly activities.
