The boy, identified as Rachit Singh, a Class 6 student in the Haldaur police station area, had requested new sandals on Sunday morning to wear for the event. His father, Sanjay Kumar, purchased a pair, but Rachit was unhappy with them and insisted they be exchanged. The family assured him the sandals would be replaced later.

Rachit then retreated to his room, where he allegedly hanged himself to death.

Amheda Chowki in-charge Annu Panwar said the family did not notify the police or file a complaint. Village head Imraan Ahmad corroborated the incident, saying that it was a case of suicide.
