Man slits wife’s throat after argument

Bijnor: A 32-year-old man allegedly tried to kill his wife by slitting her throat with a knife following an argument while the couple was returning from Meerut with their three children, police said. Despite suffering serious injuries, the woman managed to reach the road and seek help from passersby.

Police said Rukhsaar (30), a resident of Chandpur, married Nasir, a labourer, six years ago. The couple got into an argument over visiting a relative’s house in Meerut, and the dispute continued as they travelled back home on a scooter.

During the journey, Nasir allegedly stopped the scooter, left their three children by the roadside, and took Rukhsaar to a nearby field, where he attacked her with a knife before fleeing, police said. Rukhsaar was taken to the Syau Community Health Centre by a passerby and later referred to Bijnor Medical College Hospital.

Chandpur SHO Rahul Singh said, “An investigation has been initiated. Further action will be taken based on the woman’s complaint.”
