MEERUT: A 25-year-old man identified as Mohd Suhail was arrested after he was caught on CCTV forcefully kissing a burqa-clad woman on a deserted street in the Lisari Gate area.
The incident occurred on May 20, when the woman was walking alone. Suhail, riding a motorcycle without a registraion number plate, approached the woman, kissed her, and fled the scene.
The act was captured on camera and widely circulated on social media, sparking outrage and raising concerns about women's safety in the area.
Following the incident, the police acted swiftly. The accused was identified and arrested shortly thereafter. During interrogation, Suhail apologised for his actions.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Meerut, Dr Vipin Tada, confirmed that an FIR has been lodged against the accused, and he will be sent to jail.
