DG (law & order) UP gets President Award for 2017 rescue operation held in Meerut

MEERUT: On July 6, 2017, a Delhi based doctor was abducted and a ransom of Rs 5 crores was demanded for his release. Investigations revealed the doctor, Srikant Gaur was moved to Meerut region at a time when Kanwar Yatra was in full swing.

The then ADG Police Meerut zone Prashant Kumar swiftly acted and on July 19, led a sensitive operation along with the then SSP Meerut Manzil Saini to rescue the cancer specialist in a police encounter while arresting the four abductors.

As per the information released by the office of the UP Police HQs, Prashant Kumar who is currently DG (law & order) UP and Manzil Saini is currently on central deputation as DIG, National Security Guards have been selected for the Gallantry Medal and will be presented by the President of India on the occasion of Republic Day.
