Mangaluru: Moodubidire witnessed a large-scale cleanliness drive titled ‘Swachh Sankalp’ on Sunday, with Alva’s Education Foundation, along with several social organisations, undertaking a coordinated cleanup across a 5.5km stretch covering the Vidyagiri–Handelu and Vidyagiri–Puttige areas. The campaign drew participation from Namma Moodbidire, Netaji Brigade, JCI, Moodbidri Bantara Mahila Sangha and other community groups, along with students and local residents. Ashok Adyanthaya, president, Udupi District Amateur Athletic Aassociation inaugurated the programme and stressed that cleanliness is fundamental to a healthy society. He said maintaining a clean environment is a shared civic duty and lauded the collective effort of organisations that came together to execute the drive. More than 600 students of Alva’s Education Foundation, members of various organisations and public joined the drive. Organisers said over 700 bags of waste were collected and disposed of.
