He was speaking at an event organised by TOI’s sister publication ‘Vijay Karnataka,’ for SSLC students at Udupi, with regard to stress management, called ‘Vijayeebhava’. In his inaugural address to students at Rajyangana, the swamiji said, “Parents should help their children to stay away from such distractions for at least one month. Children should focus on their responsibility and study well. Also, participate in art and sports activities to have 360 degree growth. Do not study to just pass in examinations, but find fun in studies.”
Dr P V Bhandary, director, Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital, said, “ A total 10 to 12 hours of studying a day can ensure that you score good marks. You still have one month left, take 15 minutes break after half-an-hour of studying. Do not compare yourself with other students, as it reduces our capacity. For one month, avoid mobile phones and watching TV. Watching YouTube videos during taking a break from studying is a bad idea. Do better things. Six hours of sleep is a must. Take a nap in the afternoon for 20 minutes. Have food from time to time. Read for your satisfaction and not as a compulsion. After the exam, do not conduct postmortem of the question paper, as it will not help you, instead study the next subject. If any problem occurs, meet the doctor. SSLC exam is not the ultimate thing to achieve in life. Hence, do not have negative thoughts about it.”
Field education officer Manjula said, “Only 28 days are left for the examination. Take suggestions from teachers and parents. Develop a positive mind-set. Follow read, recall and recite your studies. Set a target in subjects, and make sure you achieve it on an everyday basis.”
Dr Karthik K, principal of Mahesh PU College, Kudhi Vasanth Shetty, state award winning teacher and Jayakar Shetty Indrali, general secretary of Badagabettu Credit Cooperative Society, were present on the occasion.
During the closing ceremony, Paryaya seer of Palimaru mutt, Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swami, said, “Education is like a cycle, it needs two wheels to run smoothly. One wheel is hard work and the second is God’s blessing.” He urged students to believe in God and study well. “During exams, answer the easy questions first, then think of and attempt the difficult ones,” he advised.
