Regarded as ‘
gandukale
’ of Karnataka, Yakshagana for long has portrayed episodes from mythology, history and off late even veered to social topics as well. It is a given that many artists have also adroitly as part of their conversation weaved in contemporary political issues to regale the audience. While most such dialogues have evoked mirth and laughter among the viewers, a few have also evoked their fair share of controversies.
The life of Modi through Narendra Vijaya is a new entry to list of issues that yakshagana has broached up on, notes Shastri. The yakshagana prasanga will touch on the childhood, life style, political background and various other facets of the Prime Minister’s life, which should make for interesting watching, Shastri says adding the entire troupe has worked hard to give the viewers a ringside view in to what goes in to the making of Narendra Modi.
Artists involved in this unique experiment include Shastri himself with

, Nalini Rao, Disha Jois, Mallika Raghavendra Bhat among others. Accompanying background artists include Nagesh Kulal Sagarkodige, N G Hegde, Krishna Murthy with S R Nayak Siddapura taking care of costumes. The show presented by Panchayat gets underway at 6.30pm and entry is free.
