M'luru twins shine with one scoring 600/600
Mangaluru: Mangaluru twins Rachitha Raghavendra and Rachana Raghavendra have brought laurels to the city by excelling in the second PUC exam 2 after improving on their initial scores in science (PCMC).
Rachita scored a perfect 600 out of 600 and secured first rank in the state, while her twin sister Rachana scored 598 and secured third rank.
The 18-year-old sisters are daughters of Archana SH, a homemaker, and Raghavendra Gopalkrishna, an employee of a private firm here. Both studied at Sharada PU College.
In the initial results, Rachitha had secured 98.16% and 11th rank in the state. She had scored 95 in English and 94 in chemistry. After reappearing for the exam, she scored 100 in both subjects, taking her total to 600 and earning the top state rank.
Rachitha said she plans to pursue engineering. She thanked her parents, teachers and principal for motivating and supporting her.
Rachana scored 99.34%. In her first attempt, she had lost marks in chemistry, computer science and English by one, one and two marks, in that order. After the exam 2, she secured full marks in chemistry and computer science finished with 598. Rachana said she aims to pursue CS engineering and added that she was proud of her sister.
Both the sisters had earlier received the Best Outgoing Student Award and had also topped the first PU exams.
Their mother Archana said the duo was hardworking and benefited from consistently covering their daily portions. She also advised parents not to compare children, whether siblings or others.
Their class mentor Yashoda S Kamath said she was happy with their performance and confident they would achieve greater success.
Meanwhile, their teachers highlighted other twin achievers from the college, including Vaishnavi who scored 98.34% and Vaibhavi S Karkera who scored 99.67%, besides JEE toppers Vijay and Ajay.
