Govt assures integrated curriculum in PU edu
Mangaluru: The state govt has assured the introduction of coaching and board-integrated curricular activities in pre-university education. The assurance was given at a meeting held in Bengaluru on Thursday, at the office of Rashmi Mahesh, principal secretary, school education department, with representatives of the Karnataka Unaided PU College Management Association (KUPMA). Officials said detailed guidelines for implementing the integrated curriculum would be issued by the pre-university education department.The nearly two-hour meeting focused on a range of proposed reforms in the pre-university sector. Among the key issues discussed was the proposed implementation of transfer certificates through DigiLocker. The department decided to proceed cautiously after assessing both the advantages and operational challenges involved in adopting the system.To improve coordination with private unaided PU colleges, the school education (pre-university) department proposed quarterly review meetings with KUPMA under the chairmanship of the director. The meetings are intended to create a regular platform for discussion on academic and administrative matters and support quicker policy decisions.Another major proposal was the introduction of competitive examination coaching in govt PU colleges in collaboration with KUPMA. The move is expected to expand academic support and opportunities for students across Karnataka.KUPMA also urged the govt to take strict action against colleges violating rules. On the issue of tuition fees in private unaided PU colleges, officials discussed the introduction of a structured fee formula in line with the Karnataka Education Act. The proposed framework is expected to bring greater clarity and regulatory consistency to the pre-university system.
