He told reporters that Rs 12 crore has been released to Dakshina Kannada and Rs 7.5 crore to Udupi to take up emergency work, including filling up potholes. Soon after monsoon, permanent restoration work will be taken up, he said, after holding a review meeting with officials in Mangaluru.

He also said the above-average rainfall in the state has resulted in more damage to roads. “Officials have been directed to take up temporary restoration work immediately,” he said.

To a query on the allegations of “40% commission” by contractors’ association president D Kempanna, Patil said: “Let Kempanna tell us how much commission was collected from the Congress to make such allegations.”
