ELC Kindergarten
) in association with the Indian
Montessori Centre
(IMC) will offer a montessori teacher course.
Latha Rao, head of IMC, Mangaluru, on Friday said that anyone who has passed class 12 can enrol for the course and there is no age limit. Since the classes will be conducted during the weekends, the course is ideal for mothers, housewives, professional and those who want pursue a career as montessori teacher. The total duration of the course is 600 hours.
She said the
Indian Montessori Training Course
(IMTC) is considered to be the best in India. It began under the auspices of
Maria Montessori
herself. “To improve the quality of early education in coastal region, ELC is bringing in a teacher training programme of the highest standards to the city,” Rao added.
Explaining the need for Montessori education, she said that early years of an individual’s life are very important. Early education lays the foundation for a child's growth and development. In the Montessori method of education, the child will self-learn through a self-directed and self-correcting approach — this is a much more organic process, compared to the traditional methods that focus on teaching.
Centre is offering two free seats for anganawadi teachers/teachers of government schools, who want to enrol. They have to bring a recommendation letter from their school principal. Mail: teachers@elcindia.org.
