Cabinet approves Rs 604 crore master plan for Kukke Subrahmanya Temple
Mangaluru: The state cabinet approved a comprehensive master plan for the development of Kukke Subrahmanya Temple at an estimated cost of Rs 604.6 crore.The approval was granted during a cabinet meeting chaired by CM Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru, according to Temple Management Committee president Harish Injadi. He said the project includes around 19 major development works aimed at improving infrastructure and facilities for devotees and temple staff. The temple has funds, but needs govt approval to undertake works. As part of the project, Rs 32 crore has been allocated for the construction of ‘Suttu Pauli'. Three new yajna shala blocks for devotees performing Sarpa Samskara rituals will also be constructed for Rs 5 crore, Rs 5.5 crore and Rs 5.9 crore, respectively.The master plan also includes the construction of accommodation facilities at Injadi. Three lodging blocks will be built at a cost of Rs 60 crore each, while two dormitory blocks will be constructed at Rs 50 crore each. For temple staff housing, three C group residential blocks will be constructed at Rs 10.7 crore each, while three D group residential blocks will be built at Rs 9.2 crore each.In addition, Rs 77.2 crore has been earmarked for the construction of an Annadasoha Bhavan, while Rs 47.5 crore will be spent on developing a traditional Rathabeedi (car street). A commercial complex with accommodation facilities on the left side of the Rathabeedi will be constructed at a cost of Rs 82 crore. Further, an Ashlesha Bali Mantapa will be developed at the Tulasi Garden near the temple at an estimated cost of Rs 9.5 crore. The works are expected to begin in three months, said Harish.
