MADURAI: A youth from Palani in Dindigul district was hacked to death, and his friend injured following a dispute between friends in a booze party near Usilampatti in
Madurai
district.
The deceased has been identified as K Saktheeswaran from Darapuram Road in Palani. He was accompanying two of his friends to the party on Thursday night.
Based on a complaint from his friend E Sathish, 29, a case was registered with the Vikramangalam police station.
Three people, identified as C Arunkumar, 20, S Suryaprakash, 20, and K Ramu, 19, from Nariyampatti were arrested in this connection.
A search is on for two key accused, identified as P Umashankar from Ayyampatti and N Saiprasanth from Annamarpatti.
According to police, the complainant, Sathish from Alapalacherry, is a history-sheeter. He became friends with the two key accused in a prison. He had brought his friends Saktheeswaran and Vicky to the booze party.
Vikramangalam police said an argument broke out between Sathish and the two key accused.
In an inebriated condition, the accused started attacking Sathish and the two using sharp weapons.
While Sathish escaped with cut injuries, Vicky managed to escape without any injuries. But, Saktheeswaran was surrounded by them and died in the attack.
Later, the body was found burnt in a farmland. It was shifted to a government hospital, where the postmortem was performed.
