SDPI condemns Manipur violence

Madurai: As part of a nationwide protest, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on Sunday held a demonstration in Madurai, condemning the violence against Christians in Manipur and urged the Centre to take necessary steps to ensure their protection and stop the violence from escalating further.
The protesters led by Seeman Sikkandar, district president, SDPI, gathered for the demonstration in front of Kattabomman statue near Periyar bus stand. “For the past four days, Manipur has been witnessing violence in areas where Christians were living as a minority community. Miscreants have attacked churches and burnt properties, which is highly condemnable. The BJP-led Centre must act swiftly to protect the citizens,” they said.
