Madurai police launch road safety campaign to mark new year
Madurai: Deputy commissioner of police (Traffic) S Vanitha inaugurated a special road safety awareness campaign on Wednesday by distributing pamphlets to vehicle users in Madurai city as part of a new year initiative.Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) Young Indians (Yi) Madurai Chapter, the campaign was held at three major traffic intersections: Goripalayam Junction, Krishnarayar Tank Junction, and Kalavasal Junction.As part of the initiative, 3,000 New Year greeting cards with road safety messages were distributed to the public and drivers. The cards emphasized adherence to traffic rules and responsible driving to ensure a safer city."The campaign aims to inspire vehicle users to begin the New Year with a positive mindset, prioritizing road safety," said Sandhya, one of the organizers.Deputy commissioner Vanitha stressed the importance of collaboration between the police and the community in fostering road safety awareness. Additional deputy commissioner (Traffic) Thirumalai, assistant commissioner (Traffic) Elamaran, Yi Madurai Chapter chair Shenher Lal, and co-chair Vikranth also participated in the event.
