Final turnout sees marginal tweaks
Trichy/Madurai: The final voter turnout figures of the assembly election show minor adjustments from the tentative numbers across districts in southern and central Tamil Nadu, indicating a largely stable polling pattern.Madurai district recorded a final turnout of 80.43%, marginally lower than the tentative estimate of 80.55%. A similar trend was seen in Virudhunagar, where turnout settled at 84.85%, slightly down from 84.89%, and in Tirunelveli, which closed at 77.90%, almost unchanged from the earlier figure of 77.93%.In central Tamil Nadu, Karur district recorded 92.65% polling percentage, down from its earlier tentative estimate of 93.65%. It was followed by Ariyalur district at 87.42% (earlier 87.43%) and Nagapattinam at 86.21% (86.3%). Thanjavur district recorded the lowest turnout among the nine districts at 80.60% (80.5% earlier). Mayiladuthurai district polled 82.09%, as against its initial estimate of 82.14. Nagapattinam district's final voter turnout is 86.21% (86.3% earlier). Trichy district recorded 85.42% (85.44 earlier). In south, Dindigul continued to lead the region in voter participation, with turnout edging up from 89.18% (tentative) to 89.21% (final), reaffirming its status as one of the most politically engaged districts. Theni also saw negligible variation, ending at 81.52%, almost identical to the tentative data, which is 81.53%.Ramanathapuram was the only district to register a noticeable downward revision, with turnout decreasing from 77.03% to 76.86% after final verification. In Sivaganga, turnout dipped marginally from 76.65% to 76.59%, while Tenkasi saw a small revision downward from 82.40% to 82.30%. Tuticorin recorded a final turnout of 80.50%, slightly below the tentative 80.55%.At the lower end, Kanyakumari posted a final turnout of 75.55%, reflecting a marginal drop from the earlier figure of 75.61%.At the constituency level among the 41 segments in the central districts, Karur recorded the highest polling percentage at 93.41%, followed by Aravakurichi with 91.77% and Viralimalai at 89.81%. Within Trichy district, Srirangam constituency recorded the highest polling at 87.9%, while Thiruverumbur registered the lowest at 81.20%.
