Three women arrested, 22 kg ganja seized in Madurai

MADURAI: The Madurai district police on Monday arrested three women and seized 22 kg of ganja from them.

Based on a tip, a police team conducted a check near Manuthu Muniyandi Kovil and arrested P Pavunthai, 56, V Prabhavathy, 34, and B Petchiammal, 45, of Manuthu near Usilampatti.

Police seized 22 kg of ganja from the women, who said they procured it in wholesale from Andhra Pradesh.

The women have been remanded in judicial custody.
