2 students die in van-bike collision

Madurai: A college and a school student died after a van collided with their two-wheeler near Cumbum in Theni district around 10.30pm on Sunday.Police identified the deceased as Kishore, 17, a college student and a part-time employee at a cinema theatre, and his friend Ricky Bagas Ahmad, 17, who recently gave the Class XII exams and was on vacation. Both are from the K Pudupatti area. Police said Kishore and Ahmad went to a tea shop on Uthamapalayam-Cumbum road (NH-183). When they were returning home, a van from Karnataka collided with their two-wheeler near a private school in the Indira Colony area. Kishore who was riding the bike and Ahmad died on the spot, police said.Police sent the bodies to Uthamapalayam GH for postmortem. They registered a case and are investigating.
