Steps to curb pollution discussed

Ludhiana: The municipal corporation (MC) and Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) jointly organised a public awareness programme ‘Healthy air-healthy planet’ to mark International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies on Thursday.The awareness event was organised under National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) at MC zone ‘D’ office in Sarabha Nagar.Many residents, besides MC and PPCB officials, participated in the event. They deliberated upon different causes of pollution and remedial steps which can be taken to reduce pollution levels. The participants were also encouraged to take up plantation drives and stop the use of banned plastic carry bags, and open burning of garbage/horticulture waste. MC chief Sandeep Rishi said tMC is organising regular drives to sensitise the residents about need to curb pollution. tnn
