Protests held in college over students’ killing

They also organised a candle vigil and observed silence for two minutes.A student who belongs to Imphal East, Manipur, said, “We want the culprits to be arrested as soon as possible and the government to take strict action against them."While the students should be concentrating on their new session and preparing for their midterm examinations, they are worried about the what is happening in Manipur. Those who belong to the state are worried about their families as the violent clashes between two groups in Manipur have disrupted normalcy in parts of the state and displaced thousands of residents since May.The volatile condition of the state has been cause for serious concern and a subject of heated debates among city youths.

Student protest turns violent in Manipur, BJP office torched

Protests in Manipur turned violent as an angry mob torched a BJP office and clashes between security forces and students left 30 students injured. The protests are in response to the suspected killing of two missing students. Manipur's chief minister blamed militants for the killings and assured that a CBI team is investigating the case. The clashes led to the imposition of a complete curfew in the twin districts of Imphal. A CBI team has started their investigation into the incident. The last known location of the missing students' mobile phones was traced to a different district.

50 students injured, Net ban back in Manipur after clashes

Violent clashes erupted in Imphal, Manipur after pictures of two missing students went viral. The images showed the bodies of a 17-year-old girl and a 20-year-old boy who were last seen together on a motorbike on July 6. The protests led to the government banning internet services for five days and declaring schools shut. The state government has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the case and a 10-member CBI team will be sent to Manipur. The Chief Minister of Manipur also expressed his commitment to finding the perpetrators.
