has arrested two drug peddler after it recovered one kilogram of Heroin from their possession at a
High Tech Check
post on
Doraha
canal, around twenty kilometers from here. The accused were identified as Richard Joel Happy of
Essa Nagri
in Ludhiana and Sourav of same area.
Khanna police said that as part of big state wide campaign against drug peddling, fourteen special check posts were set up on rivers and bridges across the state for twenty four hours. It added that two such special check posts were set at Neelon canal Bridge and Doraha canal bridge under it’s jurisdiction.

Navjot Singh said that Incharge of each check post was an Inspector rank officer. He added that the Vehicle Vahaan app was used to check the numbers of vehicles.
Khanna Police said that as part of the campaign, at around 4.10 pm, police team was checking vehicles at High Tech Check post at Doraha canal bridge. It added that team saw a Maruti Ertiga bearing registration number PB10FD-4800 coming from Khanna side.
Police said that the vehicle was stopped on suspicion. It added the Richard was driving the vehicle whereas Sourav was sitting on the seat next to him.
Police officer said that a black colour bag was found near the gear box of the vehicle. He added that during checking of the bag, one kilogram of Heroin was recovered from it and they couldn’t produce the license for carrying the consignment.
Khanna Police said that the accused were arrested immediately and was booked under various sections of NDPS act at Doraha police station.
