Passengers’ woes continue as 15 trains delayed, 3 cancelled

Ludhiana: Passengers’ woes continue as 15 long-route trains from Bihar, Kolkata and Uttar Pradesh arrived late by several hours at the city railway station. Due to winter vacations, most of the long route trains were jam-packed with passengers resulting in rail traffic disorder and further delaying of arrival of trains at the city station.

Apart from this, three trains heading towards Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were cancelled by the Northern Railways due to the ongoing construction of the limited height subways on the same route. Passengers had to face a tough time while waiting for their trains at the city station.

Poorvottar Express from Amritsar to Silchar, including Pooja Express from Jammu to Ajmer, were the worst affected trains as they were delayed by seven hours each. Himgiri Express from Howrah to Amritsar was delayed by more than 9 hours and arrived at the station at 5am instead of 8 pm the previous night.

While trains coming from Mumbai were also delayed. Amritsar Express from Mumbai CST to Amritsar was delayed by 5.14 hours and reached the station at 6.15 pm instead of 1.35 pm. Darbhanga – Amritsar Jan Nayak Express, Amritsar – Howrah Mail, Kolkata – Jammu Tawi Express and Amritsar Jaynagar Saryu Yamuna Express were also delayed by two to three hours.
