Neighbour held for spade attack over loud music row
Ludhiana: A labourer has been arrested for allegedly attacking his neighbour with a spade and assaulting the latter’s sister after a dispute over playing loud music in Jodhewal.
The injured man suffered a head injury and is undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital.
Based on a complaint by the victim’s 28-year-old sister, police registered an FIR under Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115(2) (hurt), 118(1) (hurt by dangerous weapon), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 74 (assault on a woman), and 190 and 191(2) (rioting) of the BNS against the accused and seven others.
ASI Kuldeep Singh, investigating officer, said the families live in the same locality and had prior disputes over loud music. On June 3, the accused allegedly played music at high volume, prompting the complainant’s brother to object.
“Shortly after, the accused and his accomplices entered the victim’s house and attacked him with a spade,” the officer said. When the woman intervened, she too was assaulted.
The injured was taken to hospital, following which a complaint was filed.
Police have arrested the main accused, while his associates are absconding. Raids are on to nab them.
