Ludhiana north sub-tehsil to open soon
Ludhiana: The newly created Ludhiana North sub-tehsil is set to begin operations soon to improve administrative efficiency and simplify access to public services. Carved out under Ludhiana district to function under the Ludhiana East tehsil, the office has completed all infrastructure arrangements, including office space and furniture, and now only awaits the appointment and posting of a Naib Tehsildar to formally open. Sub-divisional magistrate (East) Jasleen Kaur Bhullar confirmed that approval from the Financial Commissioner Revenue has already been received, noting that the posting will be done at the soonest possible and the sub-tehsil will become operational once the appointment is made.
Demographic growth and reorganisation
Established at its Mahal Bagat headquarters, the sub-tehsil’s jurisdiction has been reorganised by carving out selected areas from the existing Taraf Saida, Bagga Khurd, and Sunet circles to manage a growing regional population, expanding residential colonies, and an increasing administrative workload, thereby reducing pressure on existing revenue offices. The new administrative network will comprise one Kanungo circle named “Tarf Piru Banda,” which serves as the supervisory tier overseeing four basic patwar circles—Mahal Bagat, Tarf Piru Banda, Haibowal Kalan, and Tarf Karabara—alongside nine revenue estates.
Streamlined access to public services
This structural reorganisation is tailored to drastically cut down travel times and procedural delays for residents in densely populated urban pockets, particularly in the northern parts of the city. Once functional, the office will provide streamlined, local access to essential public and revenue-related services, including property registration, land record verifications, income certificates, and field-level tracking of mutations, crop details, and land transactions maintained by the assigned Patwaris.
