Ludhiana Khalsa College women’s basketball players clinch north zone inter-university title in Jalandhar.
Ludhiana: Five students from Khalsa College for Women in Ludhiana played a pivotal role in clinching gold medals at the North Zone Inter-University Basketball Competition for women. Held from January 16 to 21 at the Government Arts and Sports College in Jalandhar, the tournament saw the Ludhiana athletes showcase exceptional skill as part of the winning Panjab University team.The gold-winning students from Khalsa College include Nandini Saha, Chanda Gouttam, Nadar Kaur Dhillon, Kamalpreet Kaur, and Bhumika. They were supported by teammates Jasleen from the Panjab University campus, Ayushi, Anshu, and Sakshi from Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Afreen Kaur from SD College Chandigarh, and Isha Rathour from GNC Narangwal. The team was led to victory under the guidance of coach Saloni and manager Navjot.
The team's path to the gold was marked by a series of impressive victories. In the league matches, they defeated Chandigarh University in a close 67-64 contest and followed it up with a 60–52 win over Lovely Professional University. Their most dominant performance came against MBPSU Patiala, whom they defeated 74-21. In the crucial qualifying match against Delhi University, the team secured their standing with a comfortable 64-39 win.Following their success, the players and coaching staff expressed their gratitude to Teja Singh Dhaliwal, General Secretary of the Punjab Basketball Association, for his ongoing support. They also extended their congratulations and thanks to Dr. Ramesh Malik and the Directorate of Sports at Panjab University, Chandigarh, for the resources and encouragement that made their golden finish possible.
